Doosan Enerbility Wins Contract to Build Misfah Combined Cycle Power Plant in Oman

Doosan Enerbility announced on August 21 that it has signed a contract to build the Misfah combined cycle gas power plant in Oman. The total contract amount is approximately KRW 930 billion.For this project, Doosan Enerbility has formed a consortium with SEPCO-3, a power plant construction company, to carry out the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the plant. The company will also directly supply steam turbines and generators, the plant’s key equipment. The 1,700MW Misfah combined cycle power plant will be located approximately 20km west of central Muscat, the capital of Oman, and is targeted for completion in April 2029. Once completed, the plant is expected to help meet electricity demand in Oman and stabilize the country’s energy supply. The client is a global developer consortium comprising Qatar’s Nebras Power, the UAE’s EUDC* and Oman’s Bahwan Infrastructure Services(BIS).* EUDC: a development and investment subsidiary of Etihad Water and Electricity(EtihadWE) ”Our successful project execution and differentiated strategy in neighboring Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar have led to this contract award,” said Hyeonho Lee, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Plant EPC Business Group. “We will work with our partners to build a world-class power plant and contribute to stabilizing electricity supply in Oman.” Doosan Enerbility has been steadily building a strong track record in the global combined cycle power construction market. Starting with the Qatar Peaking Unit project in February last year, the company has signed consecutive contracts for the Rumah 1, Nairyah 1, and PP12 projects in Saudi Arabia in March. In June 2025, Doosan Enerbility also won the O Mon 4 project in Vietnam, valued at approximately KRW 900 billion. Recently, the company has further strengthened its position in the combined cycle power plant market by winning the projects in both Duqm and Misfah, Oman.
