Doosan Enerbility Signs Steam Turbine Contract with Doosan Skoda Power for Czech Nuclear Power Plant

Doosan Enerbility announced on February 18th that it had signed a contract valued to be approximately KRW 320 billion with its Czech subsidiary Doosan Skoda Power for the supply of a steam turbine and turbine control system for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Units 5 and 6, a nuclear new build project currently being pursued in the Czech Republic. The signing ceremony which was held in Prague on February 16th (local time) was carried out with the industry ministers of both South Korea and the Czech Republic in attendance. The Czech government embarked on collaborative efforts with the “Team Korea” consortium in earnest last year upon signing a landmark contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) in June for the Dukovany Units 5 and 6 project. The recently signed contract holds significance as being Team Korea’s first large-scale cooperation agreement signed with a local Czech company, thereby aligning with the localization efforts emphasized by the Czech government since early on.  The contract entails supplying two units of machinery consisting of the steam turbine-generator and turbine control system. Moreover, this contract is regarded as a key milestone as it marks the first nuclear new build project to be collaborated on by Doosan Enerbility and Doosan Skoda Power.  Doosan aims to achieve maximum synergy by combining the strengths held by its Czech subsidiary Skoda Power through its extensive manufacturing experience together with Doosan Enerbility’s own nuclear components-related expertise.
