- □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) has won a coal-fired thermal power plant project in Vietnam worth about 1 trillion won.
- □ Doosan announced on April 13 that it had been awarded a contract to construct a 1,200MW Song Hau 1 coal-fired thermal power plant from the project host, Petro Vietnam (PVN). In attendance at the signing ceremony held in Hanoi, Vietnam, were Chairman Nguyen Xuan Son and President Nguyen Quoc Khanh, project host, PVN, President Mr. Le Van Tuan of Lilama, and Vice Chairman & COO Ji Taik Chung and EPC BG CEO Hun Tak Kim, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
- □ Song Hau 1 coal-fired power plant, which will be built in Hau Giang province, some 200 km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to contribute to easing power shortages in southern Vietnam. As the main EPC contractor, Doosan will supply the main equipment of the plant including boilers and turbines, including the balance of plant components. The project is slated for completion in October 2019.
- □ With the acquisition of this new project, Doosan expects to further reinforce its position as a leading integrated power solution company in the Vietnamese power generation market, which is projected to reach a total power output of 30 GW by 2020.
- □ Notably, Doosan has won a series of five power plant projects in Vietnam alone over the past five years, rapidly expanding its leading presence and delivering advanced power solutions across the country. After winning the contract to deliver EPC services for Mong Duong 2 coal-fired power in 2010, the company won projects in rapid succession – supply contract of the main equipment for Mong Duong 1 coal-fired power plant in 2011, EPC contracts for Vinh Tan 4 coal-fired power plant in 2013 and Nghi Son 2 thermal power plant last year, to receive orders worth about 6 trillion won in total.
- □ Ji Taik Chung, vice chairman & COO, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, said “By successively undertaking a string of large-scale power projects in Vietnam, Doosan is poised to deliver more power and accelerate the country’s progress. Equipped with proven leadership, Doosan aims to expand its presence into neighboring Asian countries, including India, Thailand, and Malaysia,” adding, “Doosan Vina – a high-tech industrial complex located in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, Quang Ngai Province in Vietnam – will enable us to extend our commitment."
