Doosan Wins First Sewage Treatment Project in Middle East

- Latest membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology-based Al-Ansab sewage treatment plant in Oman - Company set to expand water and wastewater treatment business in the Middle East, where it has proven experience in seawater desalination
  • □ Doosan Heavy Industries & construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) has won the phase 2 of the Al-Ansab sewage treatment plant for US$ 81 million from Haya Water, Oman’s state wastewater services company, on June 25.
  • □ The Al-Ansab Ph.2 sewage treatment plant project, which was put up for tender in an international open bid, is the first sewage treatment project that Doosan has won in the Middle East, where the company has proved its leadership in the seawater desalination business.
  • □ Under the project, Doosan will take charge of upgrading the existing sewage treatment facilities, as well as supplying the main equipment, construction and test operating the plant.
  • □ The plant employs Membrane Bio Reactor process which is a cutting-edge technology to treat wastewater and produce high quality reclaimed water more efficiently with smaller environmental footprints. Scheduled to be completed by 2017, the plant will be the largest membrane bioreactor facility in the middle east, capable of treating up to 150,000 tons of sewage per day.
  • □ Seokwon Yun, CEO of the Water BG at Doosan, said, “I believe Doosan has been rewarded the Al-Ansab STP project, by capitalizing on our continuous development in water technology and proven experience,” adding, “We will strive to win more projects in water and wastewater treatment business, which is projected to be worth around 680 trillion won in 2018, and grow into an integrated water solutions company in the future.”
