- To facilitate convergence between machinery and ICT - Attended by more than 100 ICT startups, venture companies and SMEs…intended to nurture smart machinery industry through technological convergence
  • □ On September 24, South Gyeongsang Creative Economy Innovation Center and Doosan hosted the third Briefing Session on Mechatronics ICT Technology Needs, with an aim to facilitate convergence and matchup of businesses, in Google Campus Seoul.
  • □ Under the vision to “Become the Mechatronics Hub,” the briefing session was held to build the foundation for growth of the smart device industry and match up relevant companies with a potential to create entirely new businesses.
  • □“The future of the smart device industry largely depends on how machinery and manufacturing companies, and ICT venture companies or small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) collaborate with each other in technology,” said Sangki Choi, head of the South Gyeongsang Creative Economy Innovation Center. “So far, it has been very successful: In the previous two sessions, 15 ICT venture companies and SMEs had come up with a variety of convergence ideas, and talks are currently underway with eight of the companies to grab new business opportunities.”
  • □ This year, more than 100 startups, venture companies and SMEs in the ICT industry attended the briefing session—which featured presentations on 12 projects including Doosan Corporation Fuel Cell’s LNG and air flow sensor applications and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction’s anthropomorphic robots.
  • □ In the next one or two months, more talks will be held with the individual ICT companies to learn more about the technologies they have, identify technological convergence opportunities and lay out specific business plans.
  • □ Based on the Creative Economy Funds worth about 170 billion won (about US$1.43 million), South Gyeongsang Creative Economy Innovation Center and Doosan fund the ICT companies selected for technological convergence and offer a comprehensive one-stop service, including prototyping and financial, legal and patent consulting services.
