- Doosan set to improve performance of Afsin-Elbistan A coal-fired power plant in Turkey - Company poised to exceed this year’s new order target of US$ 7.9 billion after winning successive orders in Korea and overseas
  • □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) announced on November 17 that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for a project to improve the performance of the Afsin-Elbistan A coal-fired thermal power plant, a bid placed by ERG VERBUND Elektrik (ERG) of Turkey.
  • □ The Afsin-Elbistan A thermal power plant, located some 600km southeast of Ankara, has a total capacity of 1,376MW (344MW X 4 units). Doosan will undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the plant, and will be in charge of replacing and maintaining the overall plant installations, including boilers, turbines and eco-friendly facilities.
  • □ The detailed terms of the contract, including the contract amount, have yet to be determined, but the company is expected to win the project by the end of the year.
  • □ Heung-gweon Park, CEO of Doosan’s Turbine/Power Generator BG, said, “Doosan was able to secure the preferred bidder position thanks to its proven experience in engineering/construction of power plants and production of main power plant equipment,” adding, “By successfully winning this project, we plan to expand our business in the Turkish power market in the coming years.”
  • □ Doosan expects that it will be able to surpass its target of 7.9 billion dollars in new orders for this year. The company has performed very strongly in Korea’s 1000 MW-class power market, and looks likely to win two or three large-scale projects in major markets including Vietnam and India.
  • □ Doosan was also selected as the preferred bidder to supply the main equipment for the 1000MW-class POSPower coal-fired power plant in Samcheok, Korea on November 9.
