- Extension of 600 MW Vinh Tan power plant expected to help meet the region’s energy needs - Doosan has been extending its advanced power solutions to Vietnam – total project value amounting to US$ 5.9bil. since 2010
  • □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) announced that it secured a contract worth US$ 560 million to construct an extension plant for the Vinh Tan 4 power plant in Vietnam, commissioned by Electricity Vietnam (EVN), Vietnam’s state power company, on January 4.
  • □ The project involves the construction of a 600 MW thermal power plant, i.e. the same unit size as the Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant built by Doosan in 2013. Located in Binh Thuan, some 230 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, the plants are expected to contribute to easing energy shortages in the southern regions of Vietnam.
  • □ Under the deal, Doosan will carry out the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the Vinh Tan 4 extension plant by partnering with local companies in a consortium. The plant is scheduled for completion in November 2019.
  • □ Huntak Kim, CEO of the EPC BG, said, “Starting with the project to construct the Mong Duong 2 thermal power plant in 2010, Doosan has been delivering its integrated power solutions to Vietnam, taking on projects totaling US$ 5.9 billion over the past five years,” adding, “We will step up our efforts to further serve the Vietnamese power market, which is projected to hit 30GW by 2020.”
  • □ Earlier, Doosan also signed a contract worth about US$ 117 million to supply the common facilities for both the Vinh Tan 4 plant and the Vinh Tan 4 extension plant on December 25, 2015.
