- Doosan to build Doha phase 1 RO plant and deliver maintenance services
- Company wins the project with its advanced water technologies including pre-treatment processes
- □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park), the world’s No. 1 player in seawater desalination, acquired a project to construct the Reverse Osmosis (RO) seawater desalination plant in Kuwait.
- □ Doosan announced that it had received the Notice of Award for Phase 1 of the RO type plant project, which is worth about 450 billion won, in Doha from the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) of Kuwait.
- □ The plant, which is to be constructed in Doha, some 20km east of Kuwait City, will produce about 270,000 tons of freshwater daily, a volume enough for 900,000 residents to consume concurrently.
- □ Doosan will conduct the project through the EPC method, in which it will comprehensively execute the entire process ranging from design and supply of materials and equipment, to construction and commissioning, and will start freshwater production in November 2018. The company is also set to conduct operation and maintenance work until November 2023 after completion of the project.
- □ Seokwon Yun, CEO of the Water BG, said, “As the Company has won the large-scale seawater desalination plant project in the Middle East, one of our key markets, after acquiring the Escondida desalination plant project in Chile back in 2013, the largest RO type plant in Latin America, we have further consolidated our strong lead in the large-scale RO project market.” He added, “We will continue to expand our presence in the world’s RO type seawater desalination market, which is estimated at USD 4.5 billion through 2020.
