- Doosan signs contract worth about KRW 120 billion for Palu 3 Thermal Power Plant
- Turn-key supply of key equipment such as the eco-friendly circulating fluidized-bed boiler and turbine

  • □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DHIC) announced on September 9 that it had signed a contract worth around 120 billion won with PT. PLN, Indonesia’s power authority, to supply key equipment for the Palu 3 Thermal Power Plant.

  • □ The Palu 3 Thermal Power Plant will be built in the Sindu region of Sulawesi Island, which is located some 2,500 km northeast of Indonesia’s capital Jakarta. The finished plant will have a total power generation capacity of 110 MW (55 MW*2).

  • □ Under a turn-key agreement, Doosan will supply major equipment such as the circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boiler and turbine that comply with the Indonesian government’s stricter environmental regulatory standards and complete the construction of the plant by 2023.

  • □ Unlike conventional coal-fired boilers, the CFB boiler is an eco-friendly technology that reduces the discharge of pollutants such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide by burning coal completely based on the principle of continuous circulation. It can also reduce fuel costs as it is capable of burning low-grade coal completely too.

  • □ “Doosan has already been recognized in the Indonesian power generation market for its outstanding technology, having won the order for the Grati combined cycle power plant conversion project in 2016 and signed a KRW 1.6-trillion-won contract to supply Jawa Thermal Power Plant Units 9 and 10 earlier this year. We plan to expand our presence aggressively in the Indonesian power generation market, which is expected to grow to 108.4 GW by 2028,” declared Jinwon Mok, CEO of DHIC’s Power Service Business Group.
