- Steam turbine and generator to be supplied for Fujairah Power Plant
- Significant win over global competitors for project reflecting rising global trend of large combined cycle power plants

  • □ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on July 2nd that it had won a contract to supply key components for the Fujairah F3 Combined Cycle Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The contract is valued to be approximately 70 billion won.

  • □ Doosan will be supplying one 270MW steam turbine and a 540MW generator for the project. The company emerged as the winner in the competitive bidding, where it went up against numerous global power plant equipment manufacturers.

  • □ The project, for which Samsung C&T is engaged as the EPC(Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor, involves building a combined cycle power plant with a maximum capacity of 2,400MW in Fujairah, a region located some 300km northeast of Abu Dhabi.

  • □ “With the global market trend shifting toward large-size steam turbines for combined cycle power plants, this contract is all the more significant as we were selected over all these global players,” said Hongook Park, CEO of Doosan Heavy’s Power Service Business Group. He added, “Using this project as a stepping stone, we strive to further solidify our position in the Middle East and step up our efforts to win more supplier contracts for power plant equipment.”

  • □ Meanwhile, according to a report released last year by the UK-based global information provider IHS Markit, the global gas-fired power generation market is forecast to experience on average an annual installed capacity increase of 68GW up to 2030.
