- ISO 19443 certificate obtained to prepare for entry into European nuclear market including the Czech Republic

Doosan Enerbility announced on July 7th that it had obtained the ISO 19443 certificate from TÜV SÜD, a globally-recognized European standard testing and certification body. In attendance at the certification ceremony held at Bundang Doosan Tower were the related parties, including Jung-Wook Seo, CEO of TÜV SÜD Korea and Hongkyu Kang, Vice President of Doosan Enerbility’s Nuclear Business Group.

The ISO 19443, being a nuclear sector quality management standard that was devised to improve the overall safety and quality of the nuclear business, has a stringent set of criteria that calls for establishment of a culture that prioritizes nuclear safety and adoption of an early risk assessment process that helps to ensure the safety of nuclear components. To receive the certification, Doosan underwent close examination on various nuclear safety-related criteria, such as establishment of a nuclear safety-oriented organizational culture, implementation of a forgery/falsification prevention system and the risk analysis & management of key items.

A large number of European nuclear power plant operators, including those in the Czech Republic and France, have set forth the obtainment of the ISO 19443 certificate as a requirement for suppliers of nuclear components. Doosan Enerbility is the first in Korea to have obtained this certification, a preemptive action that was taken by the company to effectively penetrate the European nuclear power market.

“With the obtainment of this certificate, the excellence of our nuclear business’ quality management system has been officially recognized, as being a premier system that places top priority on nuclear safety,” said Kiyong Na, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Nuclear Business Group. He added, “We plan to continue with our efforts to reinforce safety management, and will be using this as the basis to expand our market reach in the nuclear sector to a wider global market that includes Europe.”
