- Contract signed with Vietnam’s largest state-owned enterprise for construction of 1,155MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant
- Five global contracts secured this year alone for construction of gas-fired combined cycle power plants, amounting to a combined value of approx. KRW 4.3 trillion

Doosan Enerbility is expanding its global presence by winning an increasingly large number of new build contracts for overseas gas-fired combined cycle power plants

Doosan announced on June 9th that it had signed a contract valued to be approximately KRW 900 billion with Petrovietnam(PVN), Vietnam’s largest state-owned enterprise, for construction of the O Mon 4 gas-fired combined cycle power plant. Doosan had won the contract together with its consortium partner PECC2, a Vietnamese local construction company specializing in power plant construction. Doosan’s role will be to supply the main components and handle the construction and overall commissioning process.

The O Mon 4 power plant, which is slated to be built by 2028 with an installed capacity of 1,155MW, will be located about 180km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Once the power plant is built, expectations are that it will contribute to establishing a stable power supply for Vietnam’s southwest region including the Can Tho municipality.

“This recent project win is owing to our successful delivery of numerous projects in Vietnam’s power sector, which has demonstrated our competitiveness in this field,” said Hyeonho Lee, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Plant EPC Business Group.  “As Vietnam has plans to additionally build gas-fired combined cycle power plants with a maximum combined capacity of 37.4GW, we will actively endeavor to secure more orders here.”

With the securing of this recent contract, Doosan Enerbility has now won a total of five global contracts this year for gas-fired combined cycle power plants, which equates to a combined value of KRW 4.3 trillion.  Starting with the Peaking Unit Generation Plant contract (approx. KRW 290 billion) won in Qatar this past February, this was followed by the contracts won successively in March for the Rumah-1 Power Plant, Nairyah-1 Power Plant (approx. KRW  2.2 trillion) and the Power Plant 12 (approx. KRW 890 billion) in Saudi Arabia. ▲ On June 6 (local time), the contract signing ceremony for the O Mon 4 gas-fired combined cycle power plant was held, with the leaders of the related parties in attendance, including PVN Chairman Le Manh Hung (back row, 5th from the left), Vietnam Electricity(EVN) Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh (back row, 2nd from the right) and Doosan Enerbility EPC Plant BG CEO Hyeonho Lee (back row, first from the left).[Front Row, from left to right:  Sungjoon Park, Doosan Enerbility EPC Sales & Marketing VP;  Nguyen Manh Tuong , Director of PVPMB (org. under PVN in charge of O Mon 4 Project); Nguyen Chon Hung, Chairman of PECC2]
