- Steam turbines to be supplied to U.S. company, proving Doosan’s competitiveness in combined cycle power plant sector for AI applications
- In alignment with the company’s aim to expedite exports to North American utility companies and IPPs

Doosan Enerbility is on a winning streak, having secured another contract to supply steam turbines this time following the recently won gas turbine order, further strengthening its position in North America’s AI data center-driven power market.

Doosan Enerbility announced on March 18th that it had recently signed a contract with a U.S. company to deliver 370MW-class steam turbines and generators (two of each) for deployment at the client’s data center. This marks Doosan’s first supply of a steam turbine to a client in North America.

With the signing of this contract, Doosan Enerbility has proven its capabilities as an energy solution provider for combined cycle power plants, which use both gas and steam turbines. The steam turbine is a key component of combined cycle power generation*, with the exhaust gas generated from the gas turbine being used to drive the steam turbine, thereby making it possible to achieve maximum energy efficiency.  As AI data centers, which are run 24/7, consume massive amounts of electricity, the securing of power equipment with high efficiency and stability is crucial.
*Combined Cycle Power Generation: a high-efficiency power generation method that involves using a combination of cycles, one of which is using natural gas to drive the gas turbine, after which the resulting exhaust gas is used to subsequently drive the steam turbine.

Doosan Enerbility plans to use this recent win as a steppingstone to expedite the exports of combined cycle power plant models to utility companies and independent power producers in North America. By establishing a solid track record in North America as a gas and steam turbine supplier, Doosan has now secured a competitive edge in the future competition for large-scale combined cycle power plant projects.

“This recently won contract confirmed for us once again the strong faith shown by the North American market in our Doosan power technologies,” said Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group. “We plan to step up our efforts to strengthen the partnerships we have with North American clients and further solidify our position in the market as a comprehensive solutions provider whose offerings include gas and steam turbines.”
