□ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced that it has been named as the winner of the ‘Desalination Company of the Year’ award by Global Water Intelligence (GWI), one of the industry's leading research organizations, on April 26. The company was recognized with the award at the 2017 Global Water Awards held in the Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid, Spain on April 24.

□ The prestigious award is a clear recognition of Doosan Heavy’s leading contribution to the desalination industry – just last year it won the Doha seawater desalination plant phase 1 in Kuwait and the operations & maintenance (O&M) services contract for the Ras Al-Khair desalination plant in Saudi Arabia, which has the largest capacity in the world, among other major projects.

□ Furthermore, Doosan successfully completed the Yanbu phase3 seawater desalination plant in Saudi Arabia and the Escondida SWRO plant in Chile, for which it received the Municipal Desalination Plant of the Year award and the Industrial Desalination Plant of the Year award, respectively. The company was also named as the winner in three out of ten categories.

□ Water Business Group CEO Seokwon Yun of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction said, “Doosan has won a series of large-scale seawater desalination projects in the Middle East during the last two years, and has successfully completed water plant operation & maintenance projects, proving its technological prowess and construction capabilities. In the near future, we aim to further expand our presence in global water treatment markets by banking on our world-leading desalination expertise.”

□ Doosan had been named the top winner of the “Desalination Plant of the Year” award numerous times, proving its leadership in the industry, and has won nine awards in total starting with the Sohar desalination project in Oman in 2005.

□ GWI, a renowned global research organization, selects top water projects and companies in the world and presents awards in ten categories, including ‘Desalination Plant of the Year’ and ‘Desalination Company of the Year.’
