Doosan Enerbility entered into a strategic partnership with NuScale Power by making an equity investment amounting to USD 44 million in 2019 and USD 60 million in 2021 into NuScale together with a group of domestic investors. Through NuScale, the company plans to supply SMR equipment to the U.S. and global market.
In August 2020, the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) design certification was received for the NuScale SMR, thereby establishing it as the first SMR to have passed all the stages of the U.S. NRC design certification process.
Doosan is expected to play a crucial role in the production and supply of core components for the NuScale SMR and is anticipated to commence component production shortly for NuScale's Romanian RoPower and the US Standard Power projects, which are actively developed by NuScale and its commercialization partners.
